Carillon Beach’s own Jan Shepherd Pittman wins national quarter horse championship

AMARILLO, Texas – Jan Shepherd Pittman of Panama City and her American Quarter Horse “Ona Good Impulse” captured the world champion western pleasure title at the American Quarter Horse Association Bayer Select World Championship Show in Amarillo on Wednesday, according to a news release.
This show is open exclusively to amateur exhibitors age 50 and over.

Pittman raised Ona Good Impulse from a foal. They won the title and a prize package that included a Montana Silversmiths sterling silver buckle with 14-karat gold overlay, a neck wreath, custom designed gold-tone trophy, Cripple Creek Jacket with World Champion patch, Tex Tan product, as well as a cash prize.

The Bayer Select World Show is the world’s largest, single-breed world championship horse show open exclusively to amateur exhibitors age 50 and older, the release said. More than 1,200 entries from the United States and Canada competed at this year’s event.
